Frequently asked questions

Below, you will find answers to the questions we’re most often asked about the heritage tramway service on line 7N.

How do I buy a ticket?

All SL tickets are valid on Djurgårdslinjen, line 7N. You must have a valid ticket to ride. Usually you will have purchased a ticket before you board; otherwise, you can tap a bank card with the conductor on the tram.

Note that you can only purchase one ticket on a bank card. Group tickets must be purchased in advance either in the SL app, or loaded onto a green SL card. Group tickets cannot be purchased with a bank card.

If you have questions about SL's tickets, please see sl.se.

When do the trams run?

Djurgårdslinjen runs from late March until December.

  • For most of the year, service runs only on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • During the summer, more service is run; trams run every day.

  • From the end of December until the end of March, there is normally no heritage tram service.

The exact dates of service vary from year to year; keep an eye on our Web site for the exact dates. The timetable for the heritage service on line 7N can be found here on our Web site.

The timetable is shown here: Timetable.

Why don't the trams go to T-Centralen?

The name “Djurgårdslinjen” is used for the heritage service operated between Norrmalmstorg and Djurgården (line 7N) since 1991. Since 2010, SL operates regular tram service on the line; this is known as Spårväg City, line 7.

Several of Djurgårdslinjen's trams are single-ended, requiring a loop to reverse. Unfortunately, T-Centralen is a stub terminal with no loop, so single-ended trams cannot run there.

Occasional extra runs on Djurgårdslinjen go to T-Centralen, but the regular service always originates from Norrmalmstorg.

Can I charter a tram?

Yes! Djurgårdslinjen offers charter service with a number of trams from different eras of Stockholm's history. We can also offer limited catering.

For more information about charters, see Charter a tram.

How old are the trams?

Djurgårdslinjen runs service with a selection of trams representing different eras in Stockholm's tramway history. The oldest trams we run are from the early 1900s, and the most recent ones are from the mid-1950s.

When will the café car return to service?

The café car is currently not running due to lack of space in the carhouse. Our ambition is to have the café car running on Djurgårdslinjen again in the future, but we have no definite plan for when this may be possible.

For the time being, the café car is stored elsewhere.

Where is Norrmalmstorg?

The Norrmalmstorg stop is located at the square Norrmalmstorg, which is between Nybroplan and Kungsträdgården. From Norrmalmstorg, it's about a 200-metre walk to either stop, Kungsträdgården or Nybroplan.
